Workshop Seed is not a product line. It is a way of working.
The process begins with seed gathered thoughtfully from documented wild populations throughout New England. Collections are made sparingly, carefully recorded, and undertaken with the understanding that healthy wild populations must remain the priority. We take only what can be given, leaving the landscape intact for future generations.
That seed is then brought to Sanborn Hill Seed Farm, where it enters our seed increase program. Plants are grown, observed, and tended through the seasons, producing the next generation of seed that can be returned to the landscape at a meaningful scale. The result is a supply of neonicotinoid-free plants and seed with known regional provenance, grown from a foundation of responsibly sourced wild genetics.
For us, the goal has never been simply to produce more plants. It is to participate in a regional cycle of stewardship—gathering with care, increasing thoughtfully, and returning native plants to the places where they belong.
Workshop Seed reflects a belief that restoration begins long before planting. It begins with how seed is collected, how plants are grown, and how we choose to care for the landscapes that sustain them.
We take little. We give back.
The plant is not the product. The work is.
