Establishing native plantings at scale requires plants that are both practical and ecologically meaningful. Our Eco 50 Plug Program was developed to help meet that need, offering an efficient and economical way to bring diverse native plant communities to the landscape.
Each Eco 50 plug is grown from New England local ecotype seed, helping preserve regional genetics and support the ecological relationships that have developed over time between plants, pollinators, and place. Seed-grown plants also contribute valuable genetic diversity, an important ingredient in resilient and adaptable landscapes.
Grown in deep 4.5-inch cells, Eco 50 plugs develop robust root systems before leaving the nursery. This added root depth can improve establishment, reduce supplemental watering needs, and help plants compete more successfully in challenging site conditions.
Eco 50 plugs are well suited for meadows, ecological restoration projects, conservation plantings, public landscapes, and large-scale gardens where performance, efficiency, and ecological value are equally important. Whether planted by volunteers, contractors, land managers, or homeowners, they provide a practical foundation for creating durable plant communities that can thrive for years to come.
At their core, Eco 50s reflect a simple idea: healthy landscapes begin with well-grown plants, rooted in the ecology of the region they are intended to serve.
